Climate Change Mitigation: Innovating in Digital Contracts

28th June 2021 by CMIA

Webinar talk and interactive session hosted by Clyde&Co.

London Climate Action Week event; Tuesday 29th June 2021; 10:00-11:00 BST/ 11:00-12:00 CET.

The Energy Transition, which is crucial in the world’s drive to net zero, focusses on three “Ds”: decarbonisation, decentralisation and digitisation. One of the important aspects of digitisation is the digitisation of contracts and the adoption of auto-executing “smart contracts”.

This session will take the form of a Q & A with a panel of legal, technical and industry experts, explaining the digitisation of contracts and practical applications for smart contracts, and exploring how this might drive the energy transition by enabling local mini- and microgrids, addressing intermittency of renewable energy and enabling grid balancing through energy trading.

Speakers: Richard Power (Clyde & Co), Josh Graham (Clyde Code), Alexander Kunzelmann (UNCITRAL), Caroline Nicholas (UNCITRAL), Margaret-Ann Splawn (Climate Markets and Investment Association)
